The only thing I can say that Kew Gardens has never really had is its own Public Library building within its borders. Richmond Hill, Forest Hills, and in later years, the small 'Kew Garden Hills' branch near Malloy HS were the closest branches of the Queens Borough Public Library System. Perhaps one day the deserving community will get a Kew Gardens Library Branch.

I am proud to live in Kew Gardens (more than 43 years is a long time for me, but I know there are others who have been here longer). My late mother bought the house we first lived in on Park Lane South; now, I own that house as well as one on Curzon Road I bought in 1976. I also own 2 cooperative apartments in the Curzon House on 118th Street.

I have been reading the guest book since the beginning and am pleased to see all the reactions from Kew Gardeners. We were and are a great group. We have come a long way from the little hamlet we called home to being all over the country and am sure the world. We have taken great values with us. I never realized, growing up, what a wonderful life I really had and what a wonderful place I grew up in. Thanks to anyone who had any part to do with that. It has been a wonderful adventure.

It is nice to see some people remember the neighborhood from Olf Joe with the Bells on his Ice cream truck and lets not forget the guy who came around on his bicycle and sharpend scissors. The old butcher shop on Lefferts and Metro next to the fish store, Burney land and Ziggies. Kew Gardens has been a great place to grow up and it has change tremendosly since I was a Kid but a lot of memories are still there. I moved away for 7 Years and came back. See you in RR or Yer Mans.

It's nice to see a site dedicated to KG. I have lived and grew up here since 1974. Good Job! I am a little disappointed I did not see my house on here 115-05 84 Ave built in 1883 by a priest.

Lived in Kew Gardens for about a year, but used to practically "live" at Regents Row from about '78 to '83. Loved the site, always thought Kew Gardens was one of the city's most beautiful neighborhoods!

Aha! Someone else who remembers Frank the Good Humor man. He once gave me ice cream on the promise of payment the next day--which I did. Great memory.

How much influence does one person have on a group of people growing up in a community? I bet many people have fond memories of buying ice cream and talking to a friendly Good Humor Ice Cream Man named Frankie in the 50s-70s decades and the Forest Park attendant! From Forest Park to Austin Street to Abingdon Road, Frank was there ringing those bells and giving comfort and ice cream aid to many a Kew Gardens kid! Loved those strawberry shortcake bars on a stick after having played under the Fore.

This is truly an amazing site. Now when I find myself thinking about growing up in Kew Gardens during the 1950's, I am comforted to think others feel the same way about the place as I do. Through the site I have been able to get in touch with people who I had lost touch with but remember fondly. My brother Richard and sister Lisa (Louise) have tried to describe the place to our children, and now we can show them what we are talking about.
