This c. 1955 photograph was taken from the eastbound platform of the Kew Gardens Long Island Railroad Station. The structure across the tracks is the Lefferts Boulevard overpass. About half a mile in the distance is the bridge signal (circled in yellow) which displayed an "All Clear" in the minutes leading up to the crash. The motorman of the Babylon train throught the signal was meant for him. He did not know it was meant for the Hempstead train stalled in the darkness only a third of a mile ahead.
