Forest Park

"[The] first generation of the 20th century preferred the breezy activities of the tennis court to the formal rituals of the old fashioned parlor. In Forest Park, one could walk, run, think, ride horses or play sports. The park was more than just a greensward or ecological salvation of a wooded moraine; it was the venue for living the good American life. 'Town' was where you made your living, went to the opera or dined at grand restaurants, but the 'country' was where you really learned to come alive and renew yourself."
